Tandragee 100 – William Dunlop Leads The Way In Open Superbike Qualifying

William Dunlop lead the way in open superbike qualifying at the Tandragee 100, as he made a strong start to his 2016 roads campaign, on MSS Colchester backed superstock ZX10R Kawasaki.
The reigning Irish road race superbike champion, lapped at 3 minutes 05.781 seconds, to set the pace, at a meeting where he has enjoyed many a momentous moment in recent years.
Second fastest Mar Train Racing’s Dan Kneen was just marginally behind the pace setter, following lap time of 3 minutes 05.945 seconds.
Michael Sweeney, Martin Jones Racing ZX10R Kawasaki, was also close to the top of the time sheets, lapping at 3 minutes 06.028 seconds.
Derek McGee fourth quickest lead the BMW challenge on the Noel Williamson Racing S1000RR BMW, whilst Derek Sheils was not far behind in fifth.
Tandragee newcomer Malachi Mitchell Thomas, gelled quickly with the road race circuit, that is notoriously hard to learn, in finalises the six fastest qualifiers.
Ryan Farquhar, IEG (International Energy Group) backed S1000RR BMW, was seventh fastest, as he continues to get to grips with his new steed for the year.
Seamus Elliott was on the pace in eighth, as Stephen McKnight and VRS Racing’s Colin Stephenson both sealed top ten placing’s in qualifying.
Additional stand out performances included Frank Gallagher fourteenth fastest, who recently impressed at the Spring Cup National Road Races at Oliver’s Mount.
