When focusing on the Bob Smith Spring Cup, Classic Superbike encounters, there’s accomplished class specialists, Manx GP winners, TT 2024 participants all hoping to strike the sweet spot.

High profile entrants amongst the 24 strong entry list, include Rob Hodson, Senior Manx Grand Prix winner Joe Yeardsley, Marcus Simpson (MGB Racing Kawasaki), who bested late last month the existing yesteryear Superbike lap record at Jurby.

Team York Suzuki by McNeill’s Mike Norbury, Gary McCoy (MadBros Racing), reigning Oliver’s Mount Classic Superbike Champion Tom Weeden, Barry Furber (DC Auto’s Newtown).

Oliver’s Mount alumni Dave Bell additionally returns with the Graham Turnbull YZF Yamaha.

2017 Barry Sheene Trophy winner, Bell synonymous since the mid 2010’s with white, red, blue liveried yesteryear Yamaha tackle, will be aiming to further embolden an already vastly polished Scarborough racing resume.

Others set to take to England’s only closed roads circuit include Don Gilbert (Isle of Man Bike Storage), Peoples Bike Team’s Jack Petrie, David Suddes (Howard Insurance/Air Care).

Paul Marley, Greg Haylott, Michael Bampton, Whitby’s Kristian Didelot and newcomer, Aldershot’s Richard Hewitt.

Next week’s six-lap Classic SBK races will also feature a group of Supermono mounted riders.

Noted Supermono pilots include local racer William Grant (Arosa Camping & Caravan Park), Smith Bros 740 jockey Jay Bellers Smith and 690 Kramer exponent, Sam Johnson.

Steadily growing in popularity across road race paddocks, the bulky, great sounding, powerful Classic Superbike steeds add something different to the schedule, for the 2024 UK roads season curtain-raiser.
