Road Racer’s Adventures: Oberlausitzer Dreieck

Road Racer’s Adventures: Oberlausitzer Dreieck

I’ll be honest, up till yesterday I wasn’t hugely knowledgeable about the Saxony based Oberlausitzer Dreieck (Upper Lusation Triangle).

Once watching event on-boards, my initial reaction was wow this is a proper, full on road race circuit (5.9 kilometres in distance), echoing a mixture of Imatranajo, Horice and the Ulster Grand Prix.

This weekend marks the ninth running of an event, featuring two-wheel, three-wheel, four-wheel demonstration races.

Machines of all shapes, sizes, widely differing engine capacities, break horsepower outputs feature including go-karts, F3 cars, invaluable yesteryear motorcycles, even Trabants!

Notable bike racer entrants include improving IRRC exponent, R6 Yamaha & RG 500 mounted Nico Muller, top Czech road racer Petr Najman, Miroslav Medek, Zdenek Sedlak, ex Manx Grand Prix participant Kenny Hinck, Norton Petty Manx powered, David Webber.

Highlights of today’s competitive proceedings include Nascar taxi rides and the open motorcycles demo race, scheduled to take place from 5:15 PM (local time).
