Ten races into Saturday’s Cookstown racing itinerary, it’s Superbike, Superstock steeds time!
Beginning just past 3:00 PM, the AJM Sales Open (A) race featured only twelve participants.
As in prior Supersport, Super Twin races, 25 times TT winner Michael Dunlop was a non-starter.
Starting from pole-position, Dominic Herbertson and the BE/RK Racing M1000RR BMW were in sweet harmony, opening a moderate lead across opening race laps.
With six laps to go, ‘130 Mph Club’ member Herbertson went 3.242 clear of top pursuer, Super Twins race (A) conqueror Michael Sweeney.
Chasin the Racin host, tree-cutter, paddock, fans favourite Herbertson did not put a foot wrong from here, going onto win by an incredible 30.695 seconds over Ulster Grand Prix winner Neil Kernohan, who claimed second after last lap problems for Martin Jones Racing backed Sweeney.
His bad luck also enabled Sam Johnson to take an excellent third place finish in front of the Skerries racer.
Ryan Whitehall captured fifth, Keelim Ryan took sixth whilst Jacque Foley, Dean Campbell swooped more than creditable seventh, eighth place finishes.
Richard Charlton was ninth, Dean Lacey tenth, Damian Horan eleventh with the final race finisher been Stephen McKnight.
