The twenty third racer to take part in Road Racing News, recently launched Racing on the Irish Roads – Racers Recollections series is Spain’s fastest North West 200, Ulster Grand Prix exponent, Raul Torras Martinez.
His answers to the Irish road racing themed set of questions, are as follows:
Q1: What is your first Irish road racing memory?
“My newcomer practice session at the 2016 NW200. Before, never thought it was possible to go in 6th, flat out as we go. I was quite shocked & impressed.”
Q2: Present favourite Irish road race?
“Dundrod, the Ulster GP, if we can consider it is still running. The track is awesome! Love it.”
Q3: Who is your most respected fellow Irish roads exponent?
“Davy Morgan, gone but will never be forgotten.”
Q4: If you could alter one aspect, in particular, within the sport, what would it be and why?
“That we don’t lose friends along the way, or major injuries that condition the future of any pilot.”
Q5: To date what has been your favourite Irish roads moment?
“My P14 finish in the SBK Race of the 2018 Ulster GP. Enjoyed a lot!”
Q6: Irish road racing summed up in one word, what would it be?
“Awesome”
Q7: Is there any Irish roads event, that you haven’t raced at yet that you would like to?
“Cookstown & Armoy. Both would love to do. If any sponsor or team can give me the chance, it would be much appreciated.”
