By With rain falling in the morning, the organisers at Paeroa, could have been forgiven for thinking, this is going to be a long day, at the 26th Battle of the Streets meeting.
Ultimately though, after a one hour delay, world class roads competition was seen, with many of New Zealand’s leading pure road racers, thrilling the fans in attendance.
Star of the show, was without a doubt Cemetery Circuit legend Tony Rees. On his way to Formula Paeroa race 1 success, he set a new outright lap record, courtesy of lapping at 44.940 seconds.

The CBR 1000 Honda Fireblade mounted rider, went onto comfortably secure feature race victory, in the Battle of the Streets, finishing over six seconds in front of nearest challenger Toby Summers.
Tony made it a hat trick of wins, in arguably the race of the day, the second Formula Paeroa encounter, as he held off a strong challenge from Scott Moir, to emerge victorious by just under 0.7 of a second, Daniel Mettam finalised the podium finishers.
Supersport honours went the way of Shane Richardson and David Hall, whilst Ashley Payne proved the dominant force in the F3 Superlite races.
Additional riders to seal race wins, included Mark Halls (Junior/Senior Classics Combined), Sean Donnelly (Post Classic Pre 82), Paul Pavletich (Post Classics Pre 89), Richard Dibben (Super Motard) and Dwayne Bishop (Bears).
Barry Smith/Tracey Bryan wrapped up both feature Sidecar races, whilst winners in both Post Classics Sidecar encounters where Jason Rees/Bryce Rose.
