Next to take part in Road Racing News, revamped Oliver’s Mount Top 8 series is Aintree front runner, Magpie Racing’s Paul Magnay.
A top five, top three finisher respectively at North Yorkshire’s ‘Mini TT’ and Aberdare Park, his answers to the set of questions, are as follows:
Q1: First memory of Oliver’s Mount?
“1992 gold cup, I remember Dave Jefferies won, I watched at the jumps and was absolutely blown away, I still have the T-shirt.”
Q2: Favourite part about racing at the mount?
“Everything about it really, the friendly paddock, it’s really well organised and the atmosphere from the spectators is just electric.”
Q3: Favourite section of Scarborough course?
“I love the run down from Drury’s to the jumps but also love the top of Sheene’s rise when you burst out of the trees and the spectators are cheering you on.”
Q4: Best moment thus far at Scarborough?
“I don’t think anything will beat my first race as a newcomer and it was my first ever road race (2021 Bob Smith Spring Cup) which makes it quite special as well.”
Q5: All time Scarborough racing hero?
“Barry Sheene, I sometimes lie awake in the race truck at night and wonder if he ever parked in that exact spot in the paddock.”
Q6: Is there one machine in particular that you would like to race at Scarborough?
“Either a TZ250 (Yamaha) or an RS250 (Honda) either would do if anyone’s looking for a rider, hint, hint!”
Q7: One word to describe Oliver’s Mount?
“Iconic”
Q8: Most respected racing rival at Scarborough?
“I have to say, them all and I think we all think the same way, you have to when there’s very little run off.”
