The first racer to take part in Road Racing News, brand new Oliver’s Mount Top 8 series is none other than twice IRRC Supersport champion Laurent Hoffmann.
A Scarborough debutant at the Cock O’The North Road Races in 2016, his answers to the Scarborough themed questions, are as follows:
Q1: First memory of Oliver’s Mount?
“I’ve known about Oliver’s Mount since I was a kid. In 2016 I was fortunate to finally participate there.”
Q2: Favourite part about racing at the mount?
“I’d say the start. It’s very narrow but a good start and no fear can make up some places at the first bend.”
Q3: Favourite section of Scarborough course?
“It must be the bottom straights over Jefferies Jumps. As good as flat out going through the gears wiggling and jumping like a wild horse, makes you feel alive.”
Q4: Best moment thus far at Scarborough?
“Best moment must be finishing at least one race (from 2016 Cock O’The North Road Races). I had lots of mechanical issues which made me start in the B races. I managed to finish one, the others where DNF’s.”
Q5: All time Scarborough racing hero?
“Hero there is Dean Harrison. He’s so fast there. Unbelievable.”
Q6: Is their one machine in particular that you would like to race at Scarborough?
“I’d love to ride a big bike there. Must be really wild.”
Q7: One word to describe Oliver’s Mount?
“Narrow, bumpy, flowing, amazingly fast.”
Q8: Most respected racing rival at Scarborough?
“I must say my team mate at that time Kevin De Frenne. He was bloody fast as a newcomer there.”
