Monster Energy Supersport TT race 1 winner Lee Johnston, is the latest star name to confirm his presence at the upcoming Barry Sheene Classic meeting, which marks the beginning of a new era for England’s sole roads course, Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough.
Eight times International Road Race winner Johnston will pilot this month at Scarborough, the Ashcourt Racing YZF R6 Yamaha that took him in early June to his first TT triumph.
A former Supersport lap record holder at the Mount, ‘General Lee’ is one of currently only 11 racers to have lapped the course affectionately known as the ‘Mini TT’ at under the 1 minute 46 seconds mark.
Twice third within the prestigious Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup race, he claimed overall David Jefferies Cup Supersport victory at the Gold Cup meet in 2015, at the time piloting the East Coast Racing 675R Daytona Triumph.
The addition of Johnston to the Barry Sheene Classic entry, which already included his good friend, Scarborough lap record holder Dean Harrison, Lightweight TT runner up Jamie Coward, only adds to the anticipation, excitement ahead of competitive action returning to Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough on the 27th of July.
