Southern 100: Reeves/Wilkes Near Record Breaking Pace, Lead Founds Brothers In Sidecars Q2

Almost surpassing the existing lap record, Tim Reeves/Mark Wilkes powered this evening to Sidecars qualifying victory at the 2019 Southern 100.

In formidable, world class form, Berlin Express supported Reeves/Wilkes lapped at 2 minutes 32.882 seconds, equating lap speed wise to 100.077 mph, faster than the Birchall brothers quickest lap speed at Billown, to secure in top draw fashion pole position for tomorrow’s opening six lap Sidecar race.

Second quickest behind Reeves/Wilkes were the in form duo of Pete Founds/Jevan Walmsley (2.33.465), who almost joined the prestigious ‘S100 100 Mph Lap Club’.

Alan Founds/Jake Lowther (2.34.752) 1.287 behind the pace shown by Founds/Walmsley, finished third fastest in front of current outright lap record holders John Holden/Lee Cain (2.35.046).

Rising stars Lee Crawford/Scott Hardie (2.36.061) placed fifth in qualifying, as Steve Ramsden/Matty Ramsden (2.41.000), Estelle Leblond/Frank Claeys (2.41.081), Wayne Lockey/Mark Sayers (2.42.283), Conrad Harrison/Andy Winkle, lead newcomer pairing Ryan Crowe/Callum Crowe (2.44.217) finalised tonight’s ten fastest crews.
