Michael Dunlop has confirmed today that he will be competing on a factory backed S1000 RR BMW for this years international road races. Four times in a week TT winner from TT 2014 is back for this years races and will also be BMW mounted for the superstock race competing for his own Michael Dunlop racing team, Michael is still deciding on what supersport bike to compete on for the supersport TT races.
BMW last won the senior TT back in 1939 with Georg Meier, 75 years later 2014 sees BMW’s best chance for many years in winning the senior TT again. Michael Dunlop is looking forward to competing on the ex world superbike as rode by Marco Melandri in the 2013 world superbike championship, the bike has great pedigree and obviously Michael does as well.
The combination of both means TT 2014 could well be a really special year for BMW. Alongside competing at the Isle of Man TT Michael is back at the North West 200, Ulster Grand Prix and returning to the Macau Grand Prix for the first time since 2011.
Road racing fans across the world will be delighted to see Michael Dunlop confirmed to be competing at the international road races this season, 2013 saw Michael win at every road race that he competed at, theres every chance this could well happen in 2014.
