Nearing his own existing outright lap record, MTP Racing’s David Datzer couldn’t be stopped from sealing pole position today, for tomorrow’s ten-lap IRRC Superbike race stints at Horice.
Early stages of the second Superbike qualifying session, saw the 2022 Macau Grand Prix runner-up, record a rapid lap time of 2:13.547 seconds.
This lap would not be surpassed by the esteemed opposition, headed by 2023 IRRC Superbike Championship leader Lukas Maurer.
Maurer, who’s pre-event preparations were not ideal to put it mildly, following a testing incident, got to within 0.339 of Datzer, finishing with a best lap of 2:13.886 seconds.
Behind Swiss ace Maurer, Germany’s fastest TT racer Datzer, Didier Grams (2.15.826) edged Patrick Hoff, Erno Kostamo for third on this afternoon’s SBK times sheet.
Performance Racing Achterhoek’s Virgil Amber Bloemhard, Johannes Schwimmbeck pocketed sixth, seventh best qualifying times.
Rounding out Saturday’s top quickest 1000cc speedsters were Italy’s Luca Gottardi, Markus Karlsson and Nico Muller.
UK racers wise, Horice first timers Forest Dunn, Rhys Hardisty, both of the Never Be Clever Racing set-up, respectively finished fifteenth, twenty third fastest.
