Imatranajo: Sebastien Le Grelle Increases IRRC Series Lead

Sebastien Le Grelle increased his lead of the 2017 IRRC Superbike series, following victory in a compelling, close fought and top draw second premier class IRRC encounter at Imatranajo.

Along the way dipping under the 1 minute 51 seconds barrier, the Herpigny Motors BMW Motorrad Belux racer, showcased why many believe he will chalk up a second IRRC title.

Gradually upping his pace, the popular Belgian steadily reeled in long time race leader, Alex Polita, eventually overhauling him, in the final stages of the nine lap race.

The Italian though still had the distinction of leading the Penz 13 BMW challenge, in front of high profile team mates Michael Rutter and Dan Kneen.

Markka Racing’s Erno Kostamo got the better of team mate Pauli Pekkanen for fifth, as Marek Cerveny and Didier Grams, it’s fair to say low key weekend’s concluded with seventh and eighth place finishes.

Rounding out the top ten finishers, in the final race of the 53rd Imatranajo meeting, was Lukas Maurer and Estonia’s Martin Partelpoig.
