Honda Invercargill Street Races – Rees Junior/Senior Power To F1/F2 Race Triumphs

Established amongst New Zealand’s most famous racing dynasties, the Rees family enjoyed more success on local soil on Sunday at the Honda Invercargill Street Races.

Competing under the Rees Racing banner, the father/son duo of Cemetery Circuit legend Tony Rees and rising roads talent Damon Rees, proved formidable within the final round of the Burt Munro Challenge series.

Scooping between them all three Southland Honda F1/F2 race victories, it was elder family statesman Tony Rees who took the spoils in the second, third six lap encounters, along the way setting a new lap outright lap record of 39.133 seconds.

Son, protege Damon Rees took the honours within the opening F1/F2 race, whilst leading challenger throughout, providing stern competition to the CBR 1000 SP1 Fireblade Honda mounted Rees duo, was new formula 2 lap record holder Richie Dibben, who banked three successive third place finishes.
