Continuing his impeccable national roads form, Derek McGee acquired this afternoon at Faugheen, pole position for tomorrow’s Superbike encounters.
Lapping at 1 minute 15.998 seconds, ZX-10RR Kawasaki mounted McGee was almost one and a half seconds quicker than nearest pursuer TAG Racing IRL’s Brian McCormack (1.17.480).

McCormack in turn was only 0.076 of a second quicker than Faugheen 50 debutant Cookstown BE Racing’s Davey Todd (1.17.556), whilst Martin Jones Racing’s Michael Sweeney (1.17.570) also kept close proximity finishing under a tenth of a second behind the second quickest newcomer in TT history.
Paul Jordan (1.18.637) finished fifth fastest, whilst there was hardly anything to separate sixth and seventh quickest respectively Kevin Fitzpatrick (1.19.875) and the improving Thomas Maxwell (1.19.992).
Finalising the ten quickest qualifiers from a high quality qualifying session were Darryl Tweed (1.22.160), Cornwall’s Forest Dunn (1.23.721) and Damian Horan (1.23.725).
Remaining racers to set qualifying lap times were Noel Carroll (1.27.527) and prospective Manx GP newcomer David Murphy (1.27.775).
