Cookstown BE Racing’s Derek Sheils chalked up a fourth open class victory of 2017 at Faugheen, as he kept his cool out front, holding off a strong challenge from Derek McGee.
Now within touching distance of retaining his Irish road race Superbike championship crown, Derek has firmly established himself now as one of pure road racing’s leading big bike specialists.
Completing the rostrum finishers behind the two Derek’s, was Martin Jones Racing’s Michael Sweeney, who proved again he cannot be underestimated on 1000cc machinery.
Evolution Camping backed Paul Jordan gave it everything in pursuit of the two times Junior Manx GP winner, ultimately finishing a still more than creditable fourth.
Faugheen returnee Davy Morgan finished fifth, whilst sixth place finisher Darryl Tweed, the lead 600 runner, underlined his status as one of Irish road racing’s fastest rising stars.
