IRRC Chimay: Lonbois Edges Out Fellow Belgian Roads Giant Le Grelle In Opening Big Bike Encounter

Vincent Lonbois edged out his fellow Belgian roads giant and team mate, Sebastien Le Grelle to seal IRRC Superbike race 1 honours at Chimay.

Under 0.7 of a second separated the Herpigny Motors BMW Motorrad Belux racers, at the end of a thrilling eight lap duel between the fellow countryman.

Marek Cerveny completed the podium finishers, whilst there was nothing in it between Marc Fissette and four times IRRC champion Didier Grams, as the continental roads stalwarts finished in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Johan Fredriks was sixth, Patrick Quintens seventh, Petr Biciste eighth, circuit newcomer Lukas Maurer chalked up a very respectable ninth place finish as Tim Van Ooijen concluded the top ten.

Notable non finishers included Kamil Holan and Markka Racing’s Erno Kostamo.
