Enniskillen: Qualifying Analysis – The Lap Times, The Competition, The Super Heroes Feats Chronicled

Warm, dry conditions greeted racers for the opening day of competitive action at the 2019 Enniskillen Road Races, which saw a host of talented up coming roads talents, roads stalwarts a plenty and various high profile event debutants excel and some.

Alongside securing Supersport, open, feature race pole positions, Kevin Fitzpatrick also proved peerless in 125/Moto 3 qualifying, finishing over 3.3 seconds quicker than nearest pursuer, Paul Robinson supported Sam Grief.

Reflecting on Super Twins qualifying, it was the hugely popular Dominic Herbertson who finished quickest by almost a second over closest challenger, support class front runner Kevin Baker.

Herbertson’s pace in twins timed practice was made all the more notable, given that he was piloting a machine he hadn’t piloted prior to today, an ER6 Kawasaki provided by RJ Woolsey.

Junior Support, Senior Support class honours went respectively to Vinny Brennan and Darren Keys, whilst Lightweight timed practice spoils went the way of Paul ‘Potchy’ Williams.

Yesteryear machinery wise, prominent classic racing specialists Barry Davidson, Richard Ford headed the overall Junior 250/350, Senior 500/1000 classics time sheets.

11 races are scheduled to take place tomorrow at Enniskillen, including the Richard Britton Memorial Feature race, won last year in commanding fashion by Derek McGee.

Mullingar’s McGee is a non starter for this weekend’s competition, as he continues to get back up to optimum race fitness, following injuries sustained in an incident at Greeba Castle during TT 2019.
