Leading Event Exponents, International Road Race Winners Back Future Roads Action At Enniskillen

After the news of no Enniskillen Road Races in 2020, leading event exponents, International Road Race winners have recently given their support to road race action returning to Enniskillen within the near future.

Amongst those to issue strong support included reigning Duke Road Race Rankings Champion Derek McGee, who stated:

“It’s a real shame to hear that Enniskillen won’t be running next year!! I have some great memories from 2018, it’s a great track with a bit of everything in it and a really good club that put a huge amount of work in to get it up and running, really hope to see this back soon.”

Open class, feature Richard Britton Memorial race winner from last June’s competition at Enniskillen, Forest Dunn added:

“It’s a complete and utter shame to be losing The Enniskillen Road Races, it’s an awesome circuit and after spectating the first year it ran (due to a lack of personal funds) and competing the second year it was nice to see some progress in the sport with a completely new road race being added to the calendar but unfortunately it seems we are going backwards again this year!!

I’ll always remember 2019 as my best season of competition to date and Enniskillen was a massive part of the reason it was my best year on the roads!! I truly saddened to be losing the only road race I’ve ever made it to the top step!!

Here’s hoping something changes for the future of the sport, I’d like to thank the club the volunteers and all the Marshall’s for their hard work and graft to get this meeting to run even if only for a short time.”

McAdoo Kawasaki’s Adam McLean, provided additional comment:

“It’s disappointing to have another road race missing from the calendar in 2020, I really enjoyed the event in 2018 which produced some great racing, a credit to the organisers!”

Others to show their support included Kevin Fitzpatrick, Paul Gartland, Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough specialist Stephen Degnan, Irish Road Race 125/Moto 3 Champion Gary Dunlop and various prominent racing insiders who like the aforementioned racers truly hope this is not the end for roads action at Enniskillen.
