Dan Hegarty firmly established himself as been amongst the front runners at Oliver’s Mount, during the Spring Cup National Road Races.
Carrying on his impressive form from the 2015 Scarborough Gold Cup, Dan showed good form in tricky conditions in qualifying for the senior and solo open races.
The opening senior race would see the fourth place finisher in last years Steve Henshaw international gold cup, finish an excellent third, finishing under 1.8 seconds behind race winner Dean Harrison.
Second senior race of the meeting, saw much improved conditions around the mount, it was still though a tyre selection gamble, as to whether to use dry tyres, intermediates or a mixture.
Gaining a great start, Dan surged into race lead, and by the end of lap one held a fairly significant advantage, over anticipated fellow front runners Dean Harrison and Ivan Lintin.
He continued to lead on laps two, three, four and five, before dropping back to second place, the final lap saw Dan and Ivan Lintin embroiled in a great battle for second, at the line Ivan just edged out Dan for the runner up spot.
Another third place finish, still proved though why the rider piloting the RTR Motorcycles/Classic Joinery ZX10R Kawasaki, is considered a future gold cup winner.
In my opinion I firmly believe Dan will soon be a race winner at Oliver’s Mount, he’s gradually working his way to the top at one of pure road racing’s most iconic courses.
His next roads outing, sees him make his North West 200 debut, he’s set to compete in the supersport, superstock and superbike races around the Triangle.
