2015 TT privateers champion Dan Cooper is set to compete on TZ 250 Yamaha machinery, in the new Lightweight Classic TT.
Competing on a 2008 spec Yamaha for Turner Racing, the runner up in the 2014 500 Classic TT, is hugely looking forward to accomplishing a long held ambition of piloting a 250 around the Mountain Course.
In my opinion Dan has all the credentials to be a front runner in the inaugural Lightweight Classic TT.
TT 2016 saw the two time Welsh open winner at the Aberdare Park Road Races, go through the pain barrier with his well noted shoulder injuries.
Despite the obvious problems, Dan showed true grit and determination in finishing sixth in the lightweight TT for the second year in succession.
Stating that he’s fulfilling a dream in the first running of the Lightweight Classic TT, Dan said:
“It’s been a dream of mine to race a proper 250cc GP two stroke racing bike around the TT course, and it is something that I thought would never happen.
But with the new Lightweight Race, I get the chance to fulfil that dream thanks to Turner Racing. Their TZ Yamaha is immaculate and I can’t wait to set off down Bray Hill on it next month.”
