Amidst a backdrop of continuously improving weather, gracing the Orritor Circuit, the reduced in distance to seven-laps Henry Brown Marshall Super Twins (A) race, ushered into fruition at close to 2:35 PM.
Third on the grid, Derek McGee (Jack Reid Cars/KMR Kawasaki) made a rapid start, quickly slotting into first.
McGee kept P1 as lap two beckoned, leading pole-sitter Michael Sweeney by under 0.6 of a second.
Sweeney nudged nearer McGee throughout laps two, three, chipping away at his advantage.
0.167 was all that separated the Irish riders before lap four’s beckoning.
With three laps to go, the stage was set for a Grandstand finish!
Ultimately with a blistering lap record to boot (1 minute 27.270 seconds), McGee would emerge the race victor.
His final race winning margin totalled 1.387 seconds as Novo Gen by FAO Racing’s Darryl Tweed attained third behind gallant race runner-up Sweeney.
Scott Racing’s Joe Yeardsley, impressed on route to finishing fourth on aggregate timing.
Fifth to tenth position occupiers were Neil Kernohan, Barry Furber, Andy Farrell, Michael Gahan, Senior Support race runner-up Sean Brolly and Dean McMaster.
Nine more competitors were issued in the final-results sheet, Martin Morris (11th), Anthony McColgan (12th), Supersport 300 race winner Lee Osprey (13th), Kelly Carruthers (14th), Ashley Robson (15th).
Roddy Taylor (16th), James Walsh (17th), Mark Johnson (18th) and Brian Loughlin (19th).
