The second leg of this weekend’s feature (Cock O’The North) races at Oliver’s Mount Scarborough, got underway just after 12:35 PM.
As in previous Supersport races, JMcC Roofing Racing’s Adam McLean made the best start.
At lap one’s end, McLean was plus two seconds in front of Michael Browne with 2019 Senior TT winner Dean Harrison in third place.
Towards the end of lap two, red-flags arose around England’s only road race circuit.
Post a short delay, race action was due to re-commence with a new seven lap distance.
Then another delay, this time due to competitors, teams stating the need to re-fuel their bikes, ahead of the seven-laps, prior warm-up laps.
Following a lunch break, the race, now back to the full eight-lap distance, re-opened a few minutes before 2:00 PM.
2022 Gold Cup winner McLean was again swiftest out the blocks, leading Browne, Harrison as lap one concluded.
Onto lap two and bad luck struck McLean, forcing the North West 200 rostrum finisher out of contention.
At lap two’s finalisation, Boyce Precision Engineering/Russell Racing’s Harrison had taken the front running initiative, attaining a nigh on 0.9 of a second gap on BE/RK Racing’s Browne.
2020’s Scarborough wins record holder Harrison by lap six’s end, moved six seconds ahead of Browne.
Just as the seventh and penultimate lap dawned, red flags were waved due to the possibility of oil on circuit, following engine problems for Joey Lambden.
With more than fifty percent race distance covered (14.580 miles), Harrison was declared race winner and Cock O’The North Champion for the fifth time.
Browne, Mad Bros Racing’s Gary McCoy occupied second, third with Andy Smart, Joey Thompson, rapid Scarborough newcomer Marcus Simpson fourth, fifth, sixth respectively.
Remaining finishers were Barry Furber (7th), Don Gilbert (8th), Tom Weeden (9th), Oliver MacRae (10th).
Mark Goodings (11th), Toby Shann (12th), Aran Sadler (13th), John Marsh (14th), Michael Rees (15th), Supersport B race-one victor Paul Marley (16th).
