For once during Imatranajo 2023 edition, dry conditions well almost were in prospect for those sampling this afternoon’s IRRC Supersport race.
2019 Newcomers A Manx Grand Prix winner Pierre Yves Bian, got the hole shot but by lap one’s conclusion had dropped behind pre-race favourite Pauli Pekkanen.
By mid-race distance, Paukku Racing’s Pekkanen took full control, surging clear of top chasers Yves Bian and Czech roads hero Marek Cerveny.
Pekkanen would go onto clinch race victory, finishing over eight seconds ahead of top scorer in terms of IRRC Supersport competitors, Cerveny.
K2 Trooper Triumph by PHR Performance’s Yves Bian looked set for a rostrum finish, before retiring during late race stages.
His misfortune allowed event wildcard Niko Tanskanen to acquire P3, having got the better of fellow countryman Eemeli Lahti, Performance Racing Achterhoek’s Jorn Hamberg.
Anssi Koski edged Brian McCormack for seventh, Ilja Caljouw placed eighth with positions ninth, tenth going to Sebastian Frotscher, Rico Vetter.
11th to 15th place finishers were Macau GP podium finisher Sheridan Morais, Never Be Clever Racing’s Rhys Hardisty, Mikko Uski, Cornwall’s Forest Dunn and five plate carrier Miika Viiperi.
