Ashcourt Racing, reigning Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup Champion Lee Johnston have revealed their intention to return to Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough in 2020, as they aim to build upon a stellar 2019 at England’s only real roads course.
Since first tackling the tight, twisty 2.43 miles long Scarborough circuit at the 2013 Gold Cup meeting, nine times International Road Race winner Johnston has developed into one of the leading Mount exponents of his generation.
Victorious last year within all Supersport races participated in during the Barry Sheene Classic, Gold Cup events, as aforementioned he went onto to add his name to the fabled Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup, becoming just the third rider from Northern Ireland to claim the much coveted trophy.
Anticipated to pilot YZF R6 Yamaha machinery at selected Scarborough meets in 2020, his fellow opposition knows it will take top, top draw performances to stop him adding to his ‘Mini TT’ wins tally which currently stands at seven.
In addition to venturing back to Scarborough shores, Johnston and the East Yorkshire based Ashcourt squad’s 2020 plans also includes the North West 200, TT Races and the British Supersport Championship.
