Named in honour of twice Grand Prix World Champion, four times Scarborough Gold Cup winner Barry Sheene, the event whilst focused on priceless, one-off, unique yesteryear racing steeds also features top calibre modern machinery action and regularly attracts many a star guest.
Over the years elite names to claim an abundance of victories at the ‘Classic’ have included 94 times a race winner at Scarborough, 2019 Senior TT winner Dean Harrison, good friend current Gold Cup Champion Lee Johnston.
Eight times Gold Cup victor Guy Martin, Dave Bell, Joe Thompson, road race victories world record holder Ryan Farquhar BEM, two time Lightweight TT Champion Ivan Lintin to name but a few.
The most recent Barry Sheene Classic marked not only the first Oliver’s Mount event of 2020 but also the first road race of last year’s Covid-19 impacted season.
Aside from the likes of aforementioned TT winners Harrison, Johnston others to enjoy success at last August’s three day meeting included Super Twin pace setters KTS Racing’s Jamie Coward and Scarborough racing legend Ian Lougher.
Respective Supersport B, C race victors Toby Shann, Aran Sadler, Michael Rees, Tim Walsh, Mark Jackson plus 888 Ducati mounted David Murphy, the versatile Pete Boast and quickest ‘Mini TT’ debutant Jim Hind.
