Aberdare Park: Dan Cooper Joins Park Greats With Fourth Welsh Open Victory

Reigning Ulster GP Super Twins winner Dan Cooper established his place amongst Aberdare Park’s greatest all time competitors, securing the prestigious Welsh Open crown, for the fourth time in five years.

Holding an aggregate lead of 5.2 seconds over Ryan Dixon, the former TT Privateers champion made it back to back premier class victories today, just holding off his on form main challenger.

Although Dan and his own teams CBR 600 RR Honda proved the combination to beat, runner up Ryan Dixon took positives a plenty from running the Stroud based racer, close.

Speaking on his Facebook page, Ryan said:

“Second in the Welsh Open Final. I lead for the first 5 or 6 laps then Dan Cooper managed to get past me, he gapped me a little bit I got into a great rhythm and I kept going faster and faster catching him right up onto the final lap.

The flag came down before I had a chance to try and pass him and I finished 2nd. Happy with that and closer than I’ve been to Mr Cooper than before.”
