Saturday morning super news for Irish road racing fans, the Loughshinny Motorcycle Supporters Club organised Skerries 100, is poised to return this year.
First held in 1946, the 80th Anniversary Skerries 100 will take place from the 4th-5th of July, just before the Southern 100.
Absent for four years, due to insurance costs, it’s return marks the latest positive announcement for the Southern Irish roads’ scene.
The most recent Skerries meeting of four years ago, saw local hero Michael Sweeney excel, claiming a hat-trick of victories (Open Championship/Super Twins Championship/Grand Final race wins).
Reigning Oliver’s Mount, Steve Henshaw Gold Cup winner Michael Browne pipped Sweeney to Supersport success whilst added first place attainers included:
Eoin O’Siochru (Junior Support), 2023 Senior Manx Grand Prix runner-up Marcus ‘Spartacus’ Simpson (Senior Support), Stephen Tobin (Lightweight Supersport 400), John Leigh Pemberton (Junior 350 Classics) and Richard Ford (Senior 1000 Classics).
