Featuring a portion of the overall Skerries roads circuit, taking in sections including Sam’s Tunnel, Finnegans Corner, Joeys Sweep, the inaugural Country Crest Skerries 100 sprint, organised by the Loughshinny Motorcycle Supporters Club, evoked the spirit, allure of Southern Irish road racing.
A just over 1.3 kilometres long course laid in prospect for those participating including local favourite, twice Junior Manx Grand Prix winner Michael Sweeney.
Sweeney astride the Eamon Mulligan backed YZF R6 Yamaha, would finish top Senior exponent, outright fastest, nearing a lap time inside 34 seconds, (34.250 seconds).
The 2022 Irish Road Race Superbike Champion also commanded the Junior class, lapping at 35.522 seconds.
Closest to Sweeney in the Senior category were fastest newcomer of TT 2024, Kevin Keyes (36.082) and Shane Connolly (36.302).
Leading the Junior field chase to Sweeney were Ian Lynch, Shane Carroll and Conor Maguire.
Nigel Moore outpaced Robert O’Neill, Sean Leonard for Lightweight class success whilst P1 within a high-quality yesteryear classics field was Andy Kildea.
