Ryan Dixon took a major first step in his pursuit of retaining the Aberdare Park Road Races, Welsh Open title, winning the opening re-started Welsh Open Final.
Dixon, the 2024 No Limits Racing, Pirelli Super Series 1000 Championship runner-up, as in preceding Feature Race Low Numbers, Supersport Heat 1, Park Challenge 600 Final Races, main contender for victory laurels was VRS Racing’s in-form Andy Smart.
Both lapping in the low 39 seconds bracket, Smart, the winner of earlier this week, the Southern 100 Lightweight Consolation Race, looked ultra keen to end Dixon’s race winning run.
0.143 in arrears as lap four emerged, he ensured Dixon (Trickbits Racing – Moto 2 Triumph) would not have a smooth passage to securing honours.
Dixon though who made an impressive Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough debut at the Cock O’The North Road Races, was not for budging from P1, which he stubbornly sustained to the chequered flag, winning by a shade under 0.2 of a second.
Crowborough based Joey Lambden as in prior four-stroke encounters, was third.
Justin Collins, briefly third on lap one, took fourth ahead of feature-race, High-Numbers Heat Race winner William Holland.
Capping the remainder of the leader-board top ten were Will Burchell, Adam Raynor, Michael Knorr, William Scott Walls, and Lewis Jones (Trickbits Racing).
