With temperatures reaching a high of 30 degrees, allied to the blue skies, hardy crowd in attendance, day one of the 75th Anniversary Aberdare Park Road Races, had an ardent summer fun festival vibe about it.
Before the opening Supersport final race, gained centre stage, two eight-lap heat races for lower and higher numbered competitors took place with Trickbits Racing’s Ryan Dixon, William Holland, the contest winners.
As the baking hot sunshine continued to rain down on Aberdare, Park Challenge 600 Final Race 1, cut to six laps opened at 4:42 PM.
Keenly contested action ensued with prior featured, Moto 2 vaulted Dixon, VRS Racing’s Andy Smart and Joey Lambden, all duking it out for victory spoils.
0.639 separated Dixon, recent Southern 100 race winner Smart, Lambden at mid-race distance.
Remaining lap circulations around the under one-mile-long Aberdare Park race circuit, yielded more compact competition, particularly between Dixon and Smart.
In the end, as the sixth, final lap folded up, Dixon, cousin of Grand Prix ace, former BSB front runner Jake Dixon, held his nerve to make it today three wins from three race starts.
Barnsley rider Smart was only 0.156 down on Dixon, at the race’s conclusion with fellow Kawasaki apparated pilot Lambden third, 0.864 further back.
Heat Race Two victor Holland bagged fourth, RWEC LTD Racing’s Will Burchell took fifth, Michael Knorr clinched sixth.
Adam Raynor (P7), Ty Jones (P8), Austen Webster (P9), Justin ‘Weeman’ Collins (P10) rounded out the top ten finishing attainers whilst finishers eleventh to sixteenth were:
