By Dean Harrison successfully defended the Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup, at the 66th Scarborough Gold Cup meeting, as he achieved yet another momentous feat around Oliver’s Mount.
Piloting the Silicone Engineering Racing ZX10R Kawasaki, Deano was in dominant form throughout the eight lap Gold Cup race.
It’s Dean’s third international road race victory, plus his first international success with Silicone Engineering Racing.
Second place finisher Ivan Lintin, finished for the second year in a row runner up in the blue riband race at Oliver’s Mount.
Finishing in third behind the Devitt RC Express Racing rider was Dan Kneen, who showed high quality form on the Mar Train Racing YZF R1M Yamaha.
Daley Mathison finished fourth, whilst John McGuinness produced one of the rides of the race, as he battled his way through to fifth position, on his own teams EMC2/Bet Victor backed CBR 1000 Honda Fireblade.
The top six was concluded by Scarborough specialist Mick Goodings.
Mark Goodings finished a more than creditable seventh, Senior Manx Grand Prix winner Tom Weeden lead the Supersport challenge in eighth in front of James Cowton.
Finalising the first ten finishers was Brian Greenfield, whilst additional first class performances included Brad Vicars in 11th place, Phil Stead 12th, Gaz Evans 15th and Owen Graves 18th, who was competing in the feature Gold Cup race, for the first time.
High profile retirements from the race included Dan Hegarty on lap three, having been at the time in second place, plus Michael Dunlop on the Buildbase/Hawk Racing BMW.
For Dean Harrison, 2016 Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup victory rounds off what has been arguably the best season of his pure road racing career, in top style.
Regarded by many as the undisputed new king of Oliver’s Mount, expect for multiple years to come, the Bradford based rider to prove exceptionally hard to beat around one of the pure road racing’s most prestigious, historic and highly regarded venues.
