The blue riband race of this year’s 300 Curves of Gustav Havel meet, the 12 lap Superbike race showcased the unique skillset possessed by a selection of Europe’s most prominent pure road racers.
Pole sitter David Datzer made a rapid start, surging post opening lap’s conclusion 2.39 seconds ahead of Supersport race runner-up Kamil Holan.
Lap two saw Penz 13 BMW mounted Datzer increase the race lead, to plus four seconds. Holan maintained second whilst Erno Kostamo held third.
Third, fourth laps saw Datzer consolidate further his front running advantage, holding at the conclusion of lap four a margin of 5.964 over 2012 Newcomers A Manx GP winner Holan.
At mid race distance Datzer led Holan by 7.52 seconds, Kostamo occupied third, Karel Pesek held fourth as Performance Racing Achterhoek’s Virgil Amber Bloemhard, reigning IRRC Superbike Champion Didier Grams completed the top six.
Despite dropping a few seconds, Datzer racing with a full tank of fuel (24 litres worth) was still serenely on course for race honours as closing laps beckoned.
Taking the chequered flag post lap 12’s finalisation, ‘Datzii’ finished 6.234 ahead of tenacious lead pursuer Holan.
Finnish star Kostamo rounded out the podium finishers whilst Laurent Hoffmann won a multi rider battle for fourth.
82 plate holder Pesek finished fifth, former IRRC Supersport Champion Joey Den Besten claimed sixth, Marcel Elsner took seventh.
last weekend’s Superbike class conqueror at Stare Mesto Tomas Toth was eighth whilst positions P9, P10 were taken by MTP Racing’s Johannes Schwimmbeck and aforementioned German roads hero Grams.
