300 Curves of Gustav Havel: Czech Greats Illuminate Supersport Race

After the 125 Sports Production, concurrently run 125 Grand Prix, 250 Open, Supersport 300 races, the 12 lap Supersport race marked the mid-schedule distance of today’s race day at Horice.

Those watching up close were witness to a compelling battle throughout for class spoils between IRRC Supersport front runners Petr Najman and Marek Cerveny.

Separated during opening laps by the narrowest of margins by lap nine Triumph pilot Najman looked to have gained a grip on proceedings, moving 1.3 seconds plus clear.

Drama arose though on the following lap as Najman dropped out of contention.

This paved the way for Czech roads great Cerveny to claim another Supersport success at Horice.

His final race winning stood margin exceeded 29 seconds with second place going to recent North West 200 exponent Kamil Holan.

Leading non-Czech racer in third was Team Schleizer Dreieck’s Thomas Walther whilst 1000cc winner at Stare Mesto Tomas Toth took fourth.

Seven plate holder Karel Brandtner occupied fifth whilst Horice debutant Jorn Hamberg finished a more than respectable sixth.

Wrapping up the first ten finishers were Martin Hulin, David Hanzalik, Sebastian Frotscher and prospective TT 2022 participant Miroslav Sloboda.

Outside the top 10, others sealing creditable finishes included Poland’s Krystian Paluch (14th), Richard Vuillermet (17th) and Yannick Jacops (18th).
