2026 Cookstown 100: Sweeney Tops Super Twins (A) Race

Race eight of today’s Cookstown schedule, saw a sun-drenched Orritor Circuit greeting Super Twins (A) pilots.

Qualifying victor, Michael Sweeney (MSR Aprilia) did not make the no.1 start, this went the way of 99 plate-holder Sean Brolly.

By Gortin Corner though, former Duke Road Race Rankings Champion Sweeney was into first which he-ultimately-kept for the remainder of the race duration.

Darryl Tweed (Stanley Stewart Racing by Novogen – 660 Triumph) setting the encounter’s most potent lap (1.28.912) got to within 1.480 of Sweeney at the finish-line.

A drama filled final lap saw RL Racing’s James Chawke jump up to third after issues for P3 position battlers, race hole-shot attainer Brolly, and Neil Kernohan, who respectively dropped back to fourth, sixth.

Kevin Lavery finished fifth with FAO Racing’s Lee Hara (P7), Michael Gillan (P8), Liam Chawke (P9), Manx GP great Andy Farrell (P10) seventh-tenth.

Dean McMaster, second post the end of lap-one, crashed out unscathed at Gortin Corner on lap-two.
