After intensive voting, it’s now official as to who you the public have decided is the top, leading pure road racer of 2022.
Before we move onto this subject, here’s a run down of the 10th to 2nd most voted racers.
10th – Michael Sweeney – Irish road race Superbike Champion
9th – Rob Hodson – Classic Superbike Manx Grand Prix winner
8th – Glenn Irwin – North West 200 feature Superbike race winner
7th – Keelim Ryan – Irish road race Lightweight Supersport/Senior Support Champion
6th – Peter Hickman – Senior TT winner
5th – Marcus Simpson – Irish road race Senior Support Championship runner-up
4th – Dominic Herbertson – Tandragee 100 Supersport race winner
3rd – Michael Dunlop – Supersport TT lap record holder
2nd – David Datzer – IRRC Superbike Championship/Macau Grand Prix runner-up
You know what’s next, drum roll, taking the top spot honours after receiving 22 percent of the public vote, is Southern 100 Solo Championship race winner Davey Todd.
It’s been a stellar year on the roads for Yorkshireman Todd, enjoying various top class feats.
Alongside aforementioned Solo Championship success at Billown, he’s also clinched the Race of Legends title at Armoy, joined the TT podium finishers circle, surpassed the prior existing North West 200 lap record.
Outside of closed roads competition, the 2019 IRRC Superbike Champion proved his purpose built racing credentials by claiming in brilliant fashion, the National Superstock 1000 title.
Widely tipped to join full time the BSB entry, remain in the Padgetts fold in 2023, the future’s most certainly bright for ‘DT’, who has also recently been crowned King of The Roads Champion.
