Gripping Twins class competition is in prospect next month with a host of road racing’s ‘Aliens’ allied to Manx GP winners, rising stars, improving event exponents all entered in the Metzeler, Entire Cover Insurance Super Twin TT encounters.
Mountain Course supremo Michael Dunlop as in all classes at TT 2024, starts again one of the major favourites for class honours.
As during previous class triumphs in 2018, 2019 and last year, he sticks with Paton’s potent S1-R steed.
Joining prospective TT record-breaker, history-maker Dunlop in racing Paton’s include Senior Manx Grand Prix winner Joe Yeardsley, Team ILR with Frog Vehicle Developments team-mates Francesco Curinga, David Datzer.
Senior Classic TT podium finisher, Northwest 200 winner Stefano Bonetti (VAS Engine Racing), Dominic Herbertson (BE/RK Racing), Pierre Yves Bian and SMT Racing’s Rob Hodson.
Kawasaki’s class presence in comparison to 2023, is a touch more modest with 16 competitors piloting ER6/Z650 steeds.
Second in 2019, KTS Racing Powered by Steadplan’s Jamie Coward, knows what it takes to contend for race honours, and many are tipping him for another proficient Mountain Course tenure.
Further strength to the ‘Team Green’ challenge is provided by Davey Todd (Dafabet Racing), riding on the crest of a wave after starring at the Northwest 200.
Dafabet Racing team-mate Gary Johnson, Michael Evans (Golden Site Solutions Ltd), Marcus ‘Spartacus’ Simpson, TH Racing’s AJ Venter.
Others astride Kawasaki tackle, looking to capture impressive finishes include sole American entrant Pete Murray (VRS Racing), Chris Moore, Kevin Barsby (Cowton Racing).
Maria Costello MBE, Jonathan Perry and the most finishing TT racer of all time, Dave Madsen Mygdal.
Yamaha wise, as in 2023, certain famous, renowned faces are aboard the marques significantly improved R7 mount.
Unquestionably Yamaha’s best, top chance of success is via twice Twins race winner Peter Hickman.
Victorious times two at the Northwest 200, Hickman, and the Swan Yamaha will be pending all slotting nicely together, extremely tough to beat.
Joining the outright lap record holder in being Yamaha powered is the Bathams Racing pairing of seven times TT victor Michael Rutter, Immingham’s Craig Neve.
No.1 plate holder Paul Jordan, podium finisher last year Josh Brookes, both competing under the Stop & Seal/Rev 2 Race banner.
Sam West, Barry Furber (DC Autos Newtown) and Mountain Course racing returner, Adam McLean (Flitwick Motorcycles).
Pilots not mentioned yet who feature within the 55 plus entry list include:
Widely tipped potential top three finisher Michael Browne (Scott Racing Aprilia), Gareth Arnold, Veronika Hankocyova, Martin Morris, Julian Trummer (Obsession Engineering), (Wonder Woman Racing Team), Michael Sweeney.
Jonathan Goetschy, 130 Mph Club member Shaun Anderson (Gabro Racing), Michal ‘Indi’ Dokoupil, Jack Petrie (Peoples Bike Team), Mark Parrett (McCrums Motorcycles), Brian McCormack (Roadhouse Macau by FHO).
All the factors are there for the three-lap Super Twin race contests, to pulsate, thrill and most all enthral those watching trackside around the unparalleled Mountain Course.
