Superbike, Superstock, Senior race action beckons for York’s Joey Thompson, at TT 2023, after sealing a deal to pilot the HeatTech Racing BMW, he raced last November at the Macau Grand Prix.
Holding presently a personal best lap speed of 122.762 mph, Thompson made his 1000cc TT racing debut last year, competing under the Wilson Craig Racing banner.
Eager to improve his capabilities on 1000cc machinery, the Dundrod 150, 17 times Oliver’s Mount Scarborough race winner, recently stated:
“I always feel like I’ve got a lot of things to learn riding a 1000cc machine. Every opportunity I’ve had on a big bike has come to an end before I’ve got time to find my feet.
I am riding the same bike as I rode at the Macau Grand Prix so I’ve had a bit on time on it to find my feet.
We don’t have any testing planned due to budget so hopefully we get a good week of practice so I can find my feet.
A massive thank you to Nige & my father for this opportunity to help me progress.”
HeatTech Racing Team Owner Nigel Humphries added:
“Me and Joey have been in talks about this for a while but we couldn’t seem to get every box ticked to make it possible.
Joey got on well with the BMW in Macau even with a few teething issues. We look forward to seeing Joey progress on a 1000cc machine be around the Mountain Course!”
