Arai Helmets offered a ‘Free Race Service’ during the TT, from their marquee at the rear of the Grandstand. The service included:
• A full factory inspection
• Side pod adjustments
• Vent & visor adjustments
In return they asked their customers to donate something to ‘The Mike Hailwood Foundation. This year the collection amounted to £1,754.66, a truly fantastic total. The Mike Hailwood Foundation wishes to thank Arai and their customers for their very generous donation.
Sander Van de Water, Sales Manager Europe at Arai Helmet Europe BV handed over the collection jar to Dave Ronan on behalf of the Mike Hailwood Foundation.
The Mike Hailwood Foundation was established in 1981 in response to the wishes of his many fans to find a way to commemorate the life, talent, popularity and success of the eight times World Champion.
Since the late 1980s the foundation has worked to bring newcomer racers to the Island with a view to competing in the TT & MGP races.
Trips are organised in conjunction with the TT & MGP organisers; Travelling Marshal and Foundation Director Jim Hunter is involved with bringing riders to the Island, introducing them to the Mountain Course, providing safety information and explaining what it means to race around the TT Course.
The Foundation has a long history of bringing riders to the TT and MGP, some of whom have gone on to have very successful careers in both the MGP and the TT.
