TT 2018: Holden/Cain Hold Off Birchall Brothers To Top Tuesday Nights Sidecar Practice Session

Silicone Engineering Racing’s John Holden/Lee Cain held off the attentions of the formidable Birchall brothers Ben and Tom as on Monday evening, head tonight’s Sidecar practice challenge.

Holden/Cain’s standing start lap of 115.732 mph gave them a gap of almost six seconds at the top of the time sheets over the Birchall’s who also nudged over the 115 mph mark, lapping at 115.145 mph.

Next up on the time sheets was the Brian Gray Powerbiking duo of Alan Founds/Jake Lowther (113.037), who were only the third crew this evening to lap in excess of the 113 mph mark.

Fellow rising three wheeling Mountain Course stars Peter Founds/Jevan Walmsley (112.324) also hugely impressed in finishing fourth quickest whilst Manx TT greats Dave Molyneux/Dan Sayle, courtesy of a standing start lap of 111.122 mph finished fifth fastest.

Lewis Blackstock/Patrick Rosney (110.180), the father daughter pairing of Tony Baker/Fiona Baker Holden (109.999) and former TT champions Conrad Harrison/Andy Winkle (109.179) all showed good form, in respectively finishing sixth, seventh and eighth quickest.

Wrapping up the top ten on the practice leader board were the Manx/French pairing of Karl Bennett/Maxime Vasseur (108.931) and perennial Oliver’s Mount front runners, the Ramsdens Steve & Matty (108.888).
