Wilson Craig Racing’s Davey Todd has taken a starring role in the opening race action proceedings at the returning Aberdare Park Road Races.
A newcomer to Wales only closed roads meeting, 2019 IRRC Superbike Champion Todd has gelled exceptionally quickly with the ultra tight, under 1 miles Aberdare Park course.
Renowned for his prowess in wet, damp conditions it wasn’t at all a surprise to see him excelling this morning, this afternoon as highly inclement weather arose onto the horizon.
Post an incident in the opening Allcomers race, Park Challenge heat, Sound of Thunder heat, Lightweight/80cc race victories have been chalked up following ultra competent performances aboard CBR 600RR, CRF 450 Honda machinery and Faraldo Racing’s FR450 steed, raced last weekend by Derek McGee at Armoy.
Todd’s Wilson Craig Racing team mate, ex Moto GP competitor Chris Burns claimed his first pure roads triumph via success within the first Allcomers race.
Edged out by Armoy ‘Race of Legends’ runner-up Todd by just 0.097 of a second in the second Park Challenge heat encounter, he already looks a specialist around the ‘Park’.
Matt Rees, Paul Williams took Park Challenge, Welsh Classics Race 1 honours whilst others showing accomplished form during opening races include Trickbits Racing’s John Simpson, Max Dixon, Michael Rees, Martin Robbins, James Evans, Sam Grief and ‘Tommy Club’ member Dan Ingham.
