Ten Questions Challenge – Ray Maloney

Eighth within August’s Newcomers B Manx Grand Prix, Kemnay based Ray Maloney who’s Mountain Course debut also yielded a personal best lap speed of 103.644 mph, is the next racer to take part in Road Racing News worldwide popular ten questions challenge.

In addition to his recent Mountain Course achievements, twice a top ten finisher in the Super Twin races of last years Barry Sheene Road Race Festival at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough, his answers to the popular series of questions are as follows:

Q1: Favourite National Roads Meeting?

“I’ve loved racing Oliver’s Mount and hope it finds an honest promoter soon.”

Q2: Favourite Racing Bike?

“I’ve only raced Super Twins so far so I guess it would be my most recent one, that’s a little more competitive.”

Q3: What’s the best part of competing on the roads?

“The great sense of camaraderie at the track is multiplied further at the roads, where I’ve already met so many amazing people.”

Q4: TT, North West 200 or Ulster Grand Prix?

“I’ve only raced the TT course and loved every minute of it.”

Q5: Most Respected Rival?

“Shaun Wynne is an absolute top bloke and I really hope I’m just as enthusiastic when I’m about 80 too.”

Q6: Best roads moment thus far?

“Crossing the finish line after the Newcomers race in this years Manx GP, as the achievement started to sink in.”

Q7: Is their one place or country in the world, where you would like to see a roads meeting held?

“There are so many wonderful roads in the north Cairngorms, that could put Scotland a firm favourite on the road racing calendar.”

Q8: Who’s your road racing hero?

“You can’t help but admire Hutch (Ian Hutchinson) for his five in a week at TT 2010, and his determined come back after that awful Supersport crash.”

Q9: Supersport or Superbike?

“Superbike”

Q10: Pole position or fastest lap?

“Fastest lap”
