Ten Questions Challenge – Callum Laidlaw

Third overall in the final standings within the 2018 Irish road race Lightweight 400 championship, the ever jovial Callum ‘Skoot’ Laidlaw is next to take on Road Racing News, ten questions challenge.

Callum’s answers to the popular series of questions, are as follows.

Q1: Favourite National Roads Meeting?

“Tough one, probably Armoy because it has a bit of everything around it.”

Q2: Favourite Racing Bike?

“Ridden too many over the years now! rode couple of 250’s they were great fun but hard work.

The Super Twin I rode last year for RT&E was unbelievable real fast and did everything you wanted it too. Till I blew it up oops! (Sorry Keith).”

Q3: What’s the best part of competing on the roads?

“Probably the buzz and adrenaline you get from it. Going down Bray Hill on a fast lap, or through Deer’s Leap (Ulster GP) is awesome nothing like it!”

Q4: TT, North West 200 or Ulster Grand Prix?

“Have to be the Ulster track is absolutely class and fast and flowing, really enjoy riding round it. Had a good time last year when broke the lap record on a 400.”

Q5: Most Respected Rival?

“Been so many over the years hard to answer that one! At the start at Scarborough me and Gary Graves had a lot of battles.

But now I like racing with wee sandy (Kris duncan) always makes me smile when we are battling out on track cause you know the banter when you come back in is gonna be funny.”

Q6: Best roads moment thus far?

“Probably setting a lap record and getting on the podium at the Ulster Grand Prix. Also getting top 15 and first replica at the TT was a special moment. Been loads to be honest.”

Q7: Is their one place or country in the world, where you would like to see a roads meeting held?

“Probably somewhere hot and sunny, like in Spain or Italy.”

Q8: Who’s your road racing hero?

“Definitely Steve Hislop (Hizzy) he was the whole reason I started racing.”

Q9: Supersport or Superbike?

“Supersport you can ride the bike harder and enjoy more corner speed. Enjoy a Superbike too but their very physical.”

Q10: Pole position or fastest lap?

“Depends weather you get a prize for pole position or not!”
