Southern 100: Coward Seals Super Twins Pole, Leads KTS Racing Qualifying 1-2

Hebden Bridge’s Jamie Coward (2.29.410) showcased again tonight at Billown his proven ability on 650cc machinery, securing in style pole position for Wednesday, Thursday’s Super Twin races.

Leading a KTS Racing 1-2 in this evening’s qualifying session, Coward’s fastest lap speed of 102.403 mph gave him a pace advantage of nigh on 0.7 of a second, over new KTS Racing team mate Rob Hodson (2.30.094).

Dominic Herbertson (2.31.724) competing for the first time since last year’s Macau GP, under the Dafabet Devitt Racing banner finished third quickest, and was the third and final racer tonight to top the 100 mph lap mark.

Just 0.435 covered the fourth, fifth fastest duo of Michael Sweeney (2.34.079) and Jonathan Perry (2.34.514), whilst sixth quickest Stephen McKnight (2.34.667) was only a further 0.153 behind Gordon Huxley supported Perry.

Concluding the top ten from Tuesday night’s twins qualifying session, were Michael Evans (2.35.733), rapid Billown course debutant Xavier Denis (2.37.303), former Manx GP winner Dave Moffitt (2.37.584) and Reds Garage backed Anthony Redmond (2.37.941).
