Southern 100 2014 Preview – Part 2 – Supersport Races

Supersport races at 2014 Southern 100 look set to be fiercely contested. Michael Dunlop following second supersport race victory at TT 2014 will be aiming for better results on CBR 600 Honda than achieved at 2013 Southern 100 where Michael finished in third place in opening supersport race. Michael’s in determined mood this season though and will of course be very hard to beat.

Guy Martin has being in and out of consistency on Tyco Suzuki by TAS supersport bike this year but second place finish in opening North West 200 race proves that the ever popular rider will start both supersport races as one of the favorites for victories.

William Dunlop is one of the leading supersport 600 riders in road racing and William has a good record on 600’s around Billown. Now competing for Tyco Suzuki by TAS signs are good for the talented road racer going into the friendly races of the potential of winning in ultra competitive supersport 600 races.

Mar Train racing make their Southern 100 debut this year running Dean Harrison on the teams lightning quick R6 Yamaha. Dean has in 2014 proved the huge potential of the bike with a fine double 4th place finish in both supersport races at TT 2014.

Having won two races at 2013 Southern 100 Dean goes into the third international road race of the season confident of more wins and in no doubt that he has the bike to take him to supersport race wins.

Russ Mountford had arguably his best Isle of Man TT to date in 2014 finishing runner up in TT privateers championship.

For the Southern 100 Russ is competing for Silicone engineering racing on 675 Daytona Triumph which at TT 2014 saw him acquire a superb 11th place finish in second supersport TT race.

Ivan Lintin is in fantastic form in 2014 and will start both supersport races at Southern 100 as a dark horse for potential podium finishes on Taylor Lindsey racing CBR 600 Honda.

Dan Kneen could also spring many a surprise or two on Cookstown Burrows engineering racing CBR 600 Honda which took Dan to second place finish recently at Bush road races.

Jamie Hamilton has hit good form recently at Kells road races and Bush road races and goes into 2014 Southern 100 confident of more good results. Jamie has every chance of securing podium finishes in supersport races on Wilson Craig racing’s ultra fast supersport 600 Honda.

James Cowton has impressed many this season with superb results including in supersport races double win at Barry Sheene road race festival and top 20 finish at TT 2014.

Another rider Honda mounted for 600 races at Billown James has the potential to push for podium finishes.

Rad Hughes, Paul Gartland, Seamus Elliott and Davy Morgan are all looking forward to supersport races at 2014 Southern 100 which look set to exciting, closely fought, ultra competitive and close.
