Overcast but largely dry conditions around the famous Billown course, greeted competitors for this evening’s Southern 100 Senior qualifying session, which saw Silicone Engineering Racing’s Dean Harrison rein supreme.
Last month’s Senior TT winner, who recently sampled the latest round of the British Superbike Championship at Knockhill, recorded a best lap speed of 111.489 mph, equating timing wise to 2 minutes 17.233 seconds.
Leading the challenge to the reigning two time S100 solo champion was Tyco BMW’s Michael Dunlop (2.18.118), who finished just under 0.9 of a second behind Harrison.

TT Privateers champion Jamie Coward (2.20.513) was in accomplished form aboard the PreZ Racing Yamaha, on route to finishing third fastest whilst just under one second covered respective fourth, fifth, sixth quickest in qualifying Rob Hodson (2.22.104), Michael Evans (2.22.726) and PRL Racing’s Sam West (2.23.013).
Fresh from an ultra productive Skerries 100 meeting, Martin Jones Racing’s Michael Sweeney (2.24.366) finished a very creditable seventh fastest as Ryan Kneen (2.24.790), Mark Parrett (2.25.286) and Rhys Hardisty (2.25.347) wrapped up tonight’s qualifying top ten.
