Snapshot Into History: Prince William’s TT Attendance

Today’s snapshot into history, sees us venture to the 2018 TT Races and a royal attendance.

Wednesday of race week saw none other than Prince William attending the world’s most famous road race.

My main memories of this included the sheer amount of overseas reporters covering His Royal Highness appearance.

In all my time spent within the TT press office, I’ve never known such an influx of camera operators, journalists, TV crews.

Prince William went onto start the TT Zero race and presented podium finishers the late great Daley Mathison and Lee Johnston with their laurel wreaths alongside handing the race winner’s trophy to Mugen’s Michael Rutter.

The Duke of Cambridge additionally met various TT officials, fans, marshals and race teams including the works Norton outfit.

Quite the keen biker, HRH also sat on one of the Norton’s piloted by twice British Superbike Champion Josh Brookes and John McGuinness MBE.

All in all a great occasion for the Isle of Man welcoming HRH to their showpiece sporting event and one that in 2018 provided constant history making, record breaking moments.
