As revealed during last night’s Macau Grand Prix highlights programme on ITV4, Derek Sheils is officially the first Metzeler ‘King of The Roads’ Champion.
The ‘King of The Roads’ series promoted by Greenlight Television and Motorsport.TV, which has featured ten different roads events, is structured around racer’s results in the feature, blue riband races at the series affiliated meetings.
Irish Road Race Superbike Champion for the third time this year, BE Racing In Conjunction with Richardson Kelly Racing’s Sheils, consistent array of impressive performances has proven more than enough for him to scoop the ‘King of The Roads’ title.

Sheils final series points total stands at 120, just ten ahead of nearest challenger Senior TT winner Dean Harrison.
Although this achievement has gone more than a touch under the radar, it shouldn’t detract to the feat achieved by lead Suzuki roads runner of 2019 Sheils, who has also this year claimed feature race victories at Kells, Skerries and Faugheen.
