Scarborough Gold Cup 2014 – Super Twin Races Preview

Without a doubt one of the favourites for super twin race victories at this years Scarborough gold cup is Ivan Lintin. Ulster Grand Prix super twin winner Ivan has already in 2014 proved around Oliver’s Mount why he is regarded as one of the best exponents of super twins class in road racing.

Double victories at Ian Watson spring cup road races, Barry Sheene road race festival and cock of the north road races saw the talented rider produce many a scintillating performance on Tigcraft Kawasaki. Leading the challenge to Ivan is set to be James Cowton currently second in Duke road race rankings championship.

James has had a superb season of racing and has impressed hugely on Stewart Smith racing ER6 Kawasaki securing debut podium finish around the mountain course at TT 2014 in lightweight TT plus third and second place finishes at Southern 100 and most recently top three finish in super twins race at the Ulster Grand Prix.

One of the leading rising road racing stars will be aiming to round off his excellent season in style at the gold cup as will Ryan Farquhar returning to competitive action in super twins class. Three time TT winner Ryan has had productive year of racing around the mount which has included breaking the 100 wins barrier around the road race circuit known to many as the mini TT.

Competing on his own teams KMR Kawasaki super twin there is no doubt that the seven time Duke road race rankings winner has the potential to secure more wins around one of his favourite road racing circuits. Paul Gartland enjoys competing around Oliver’s Mount and the seasoned road racer is set to be in the mix for top three finishes on Rod Lee racing backed ER6 Kawasaki.

James Neesom recorded a memorable super twins Manx Grand Prix win recently and having won for first time around the mountain course is brimming with confidence going into Scarborough gold cup. Centurion windows backed ER6 Kawasaki is set to
give James a good opportunity of pushing for top three finishes in what are set to be highly competitive super twin races.

Davy Morgan in 2014 in super twins class has had a consistent year of racing which has included successive top five finishes at Southern 100. CMS racing ER6 Kawasaki is a proven super twins machine and the rider who has been victorious over the years at North West 200, Ulster Grand Prix and Manx Grand Prix is set to be in pursuit of top three finishes as is Adrian Harrison

Adrian has had arguably his best season of road racing to date which has included consistent results at cock of the north road races and most notably third place finish in second super twin race at Southern 100. Plus the rider competing on Printing roller services backed ER6 Kawasaki secured top 15 finish in lightweight TT and could well many a surprise or two in super twin races at the weekend.

Craig Shirlaw impressed hugely during cock of the north road races where he produced excellent all round performances which included second place finish in opening super twin race. Craig likes competing around Oliver’s Mount and is another rider who is set to be in the mix looking for top three finishes.

Dan Frear is the 400 lap record holder around Oliver’s Mount and the rider competing on NLC components backed ER6 Kawasaki could well be a dark horse for standout results in super twin races as could Nick Anderson. Nick most recently secured third place finish in newcomers b Manx Grand Prix plus 17th place finish in super twins MGP.

Sixth place finisher in newcomers c Manx Grand Prix Sam Johnson, Keith Pringle and Mark Goodings add further quality to an excellent all round entry list for super twin races at 2014 Scarborough gold cup.
