Road racing returnee Chris Smith, at the Spring Cup, was in awe of the One Nine Four Six marshals at Oliver’s Mount and all marshals especially for what they do for him and all the riders.
Speaking recently the North Yorkshire racer stated: “Without the Marshals, there’s no racing. I just want to thank them and give something back. The Marshals do an absolutely amazing job during race weekends with very little reward, in all weathers.”
To show his appreciation, Chris is restoring a 1991 Ducati 900ss Classic Superbike and plans to have it ready for racing at the Barry Sheene Classic.
The bike’s paintwork will be the striking orange and black colours of the 1946 Marshals Association and will have the following support from:
SorryMate, Ollie Charlesworth – OC Graphics, GMEC, Nick Ray- AWS Racewear, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Gary Howlett, Road Racing News. Chris would also like to praise Shaun Dalton for all his help.
Chris’s response to having the backing of the above, “I’m overwhelmed and humbled by all the support for my racing this year. I honestly can’t thank-you all enough.”
Also during the Spring Cup at Oliver’s Mount, Chris made a collection for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance in the racing paddock and hopes to be able to continue his collections at the next meeting and beyond.
But for now his attention will be on his preparations for the Barry Sheene Classic and the dedication he has in supporting the wonderful 1946 Marshals Association.
